Since it’s foundation in 1990, LICHTSCHATZ PROJECTE has been a pioneer in the controlled organic cultivation and processing of textile fibres. On this website you will find information about our projects, products, activities and our competence for high-valued controlled and certified textile productions.

WOVEN WIND COTTON

LICHTSCHATZ PROJECTS' WOVEN WIND COTTON is leading the way with the initiation and establishment of alternative and sustainable Organic Cotton Cultivation in the Aegean region near Izmir, Turkey. LICHTSCHATZ PROJECTS grew in coordination with Rapunzel turkey the first organic cotton worldwide (200kg) in 1991.
The cotton is cultivated under crop rotation, without the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, and meets all requirements for organic cultivation (IFOAM standards). In addition, we fulfill all criteria necessary for innovative environmental and climate conservation and provide contemporay social security for all working people involved, through the implementation of fair prices and organic premiums. Furthermore, we have developed the cotton textile industry in western Turkey, from cultivation to the final product, including well-trained, competent workers and an elaborate logistics network. Therefore we have established our own office with competent staff in Izmir. This entire project and all it’s individual processes follow strict IVN guidelines, meet Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and are certified by internationally recognised Institutes.

ECO-LINO

Another of our cultivation projects is ECO-LINO. With LICHTSCHATZ PROJECTS’ experience and vision, the traditional flax plant has been re-introduced to the Swabian Allgaeu, south part of Germany, and once again cultivated for organic textile production. In 2000 LICHTSCHATZ PROJECTS took over the original project, Ökolin (founded in 1987 by Dr. Georg Keller) and developed it further under the modified name ECO-LINO. Since then it has become an innovative and sustainable project, that encompasses the entire textile process chain within Europe, from flax cultivation to packaging the final product. Along the way, these processes are inspected and certified using Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS).
